Welcome to my Practice
As a registered social worker and psychotherapist, I have worked with children, teens, individuals and couples. I understand that I am here to help you achieve something different in your life. Whether we work on new strategies, gaining insight, coping or trauma something needs to be done differently.
Therapy is about creating space in your life to explore and break through obstacles so that you can move in the direction that you most desire.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are your rules regarding confidentiality?
The college of Social Workers and Social Service Workers has clear guidelines regarding confidentiality. All clients have a legal, ethical and moral right to have their privacy protected. Information obtained during the course of service shall not be released without informed consent, with the exception of mandatory reporting laws and any actions needed to prevent serious harm.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Social Workers with a Masters degree are members of several workplace insurance plans. Before your first appointment, you may want to check with your insurance company about any deductible amounts that exist and what the terms and limits are for your extended health benefits and counselling. More specifically, you should ensure that Registered Social Workers are covered under your plan. We will provide official receipts for you to submit to your insurance company following each session. We are always happy to answer your questions before your first appointment.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Initially there will be a few forms that will need to be signed and agreed upon. I will explain confidentiality to you and answer any questions you may have. We will discuss your current concerns and how these concerns have impacted you, evaluate what your needs are and what you would like to get out of your counselling experience. A counselling session lasts 50 minutes.
Do you offer reduced rates?
Yes, due to financial hardship and a lack of insurance coverage, I can reduce my rate in order for you to get the service that you need. Payment is to be made at the end of each session.
How long does treatment take?
The amount of sessions depends on the nature of the issues being discussed and the goals of the therapy. I work with individuals and families at a comfortable pace scheduling as few or as many sessions as needed in order to meet your desired goals.
